Just curious what sort of nets people use. Something tangle free of all those hooks that seem to get wrapped up in a net, it will last, and where to get. Thanks.

Shawn
I have at least 5 different nets hanging on the wall for different applications. I have a rubber net for night fishing cranks. I use a big Cabela’s brand extendable handled net with a coated net when fishing the bigger waves and tourneys. I have one for muskies, one for panfish and one I bought when I was out of town and forgot my nets. The next net I purchase will be a Beckman, with extendable handle, hands down best net out there!
I don’t know the name, but mine I got from Mills Fleet farm. It extends 10’+ but colapses down to nothing. One thing I love is that the handle in octogon shaped instead of round. It makesit a piece of cake when you go to extend it since you are nottrying to find the hole.
Hi Shawn,
I have a Frabill Capture, it extentds from 46″ to 78″ I really like this net but I am not sure if they make this modle anymore. here is there website, if you want to know where to get one check out the Dealer finder.

Since your talking about nets let me throw this in. I’m trying to figure a good way to store/mount my net so it is out of the way but handy to get at. What do you guys do? Thanks.
I dont have one personally, but the Beckman walleye net is the next one I am going to purchase. I have seen them, actually noticed Nates, and it appears to be a good one to have or get. There is soo many to choose from, makes it difficult, but depending on your fishing styles, which one is best for you, you have to decide.
Good luck in your purchase!
If you have to dip net a large fish when fishing by yourself I prefer a lightweight smaller net that is easy to handle with one hand.
If you have a partner who can use both hands, then a large net with a very long handle is best.
You really need two nets.
Because I just fish for pleasure, I have stayed with only the smaller lightweight net.

I would have to say Go with the Beckman the first time around you will not be dissapointed. the fleet farm nets are ok but I have gone thru three of them the last 2 years had one fall apart netting a fish (long story there) and other two just froze up on me if you get any sand or grit in that octogon shaped handle you are done for. I have had my Beckman now for three weeks and love it super Light weight long extension handle for pulling Cranks, Weighted net, deep bag, and extremely durable, and almost 100% tangle free.
I also use to carry two nets but now that I have the Beckman there is no need what so ever.
so make the right choice the first time it will be one of the best investments you have made.
Hope this helps make sure to check out all the net styles theres one for everybody.
Shawn, I’ve owned and used a lot of different nets, the only net I know you’ll love and never have a complaint about is a Loki net. It is superior for it’s quality in workmanship and materials. The smooth coating is applied to the netting and bow loop both which keeps the netting from moving around the loop for smooth net jobs. Hook tangles are almost nonexistant. If I had to come up with one thing to compain about, it would be the price, but after using the net it’s worth every penny. Let me know if you need any additional info.
Yellowdog, I have a 15′ bass boat with front and rear decks and three seats across in the ‘cockpit.’ I store my net across the boat behind the seats and it is out of the way yet always handy.
Everyone I now with an ‘open’ floor boat just lays theirs either on the floor or along one of the gunnels. I guess that way it’s always handy, even if it is in the way.
Yellowdog, I have an older boat with little in the way of storage, and had a constant problem with the net either being inaccessable when I really needed it, or in the way when I did not. I made a net holder out of a piece of 1 1/2″ pvc pipe, attached to side of the gunwhale with stainless clamps. It keeps the net very handy and not under foot. You can also buy rod/net holders of pvc at Cabela’s, and probably Gander Mt.
Works for me!
Rooster
yellowdog,
I am going to try this unit in my new rig for net storage, you can get one at Cabela’s
The nice thing about the new Beckman nets is that all the heads are interchangeable. I have three different nets and several different pop in handle sections.
I showed James a new flat bottomed Catch/Release Walleye net I helped design last year. I don’t know if they will offer it in the smaller size that I have this year
Hey Steve, how much are they? Need something to hold pliers with so people in my boat always know where to find them. Have you got that new boat all rigged up and ready for the next tourney? Are you gone Monday or will you be at the meeting? Thanks, Bill
Bill,
I just got home with the new boat I also picked up the Frabill net holder at fleet farm for $10, it does not come with the tools. I will be at the meeting on Monday. Hopefully I will have the boat ready to go before the next tournament. See ya Monday
