i’m looking at getting a new walleye boat. looking at a 18-21ft console with a 200HP+ motor. i am looking at the ranger fisherman line – i have fished out of these quite a bit and know some about them. but, what about Warrior and Skeeter boats? anybody have any info/opinions on those two for me? the warrior’s look redone compared to years past, and skeeters look like a heck of a boat too. thanks for any info guys!

Fortunately there are a ton of options in this size class. It looks like you want to stay with glass. All of the above boats are very nice. Get to a dealer and test drive each if possible (in nicer weather).

One other to consider is the Tuffy 1890 (just under 19′). Stratos also has an 18 footer that’s basically based on the Ranger Reatta hull. It’s not quite as deep as the angler series, but it still rides pretty well.

If it were me, I would test drive the following boats in no particular order.

1890 Tuffy or the 2060 Tuffy
    Ranger 620 (if you’re going to get a 200)
    Skeeter 1880
    Warrior 1890
The new Tritons also look nice

Another that was on my list up until a few years ago when it got cancelled was the Champion FishHunter, it’s back but it’s more of a fish & ski than a fishing boat now.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

If you are going to look at glass boats, don’t forget to check out TUFFY. I have owned a Tuffy since 1997 and will take delivery on my third one some time in February. There are a lot of great boats out there to choose from. It all boils down to actually getting inside one, nosing around a little, and getting a feel for it. Decide which features and amenities are the best fit for you individually. If you have any questions about a TUFFY, feel free to drop me a PM and I would be more than happy to answer them. Good luck in your boat search.

    Perch44,

One boat not mentioned above is the YarCraft. I would agree with the majority of posts, pull up your sleeves and get in there and dig around.

Check out the Stratos 386. Great boat for walleye fishing. I have seen alot of people that are looking to buy this boat. Awesome layout.

I just got the Tuffy 07 catalog and that 1890 looks very nice! I would look into it for sure if I was getting a boat this year. I have no idea what they start at.

I’m not sure what the Tuffy 1890 is selling for right now either. I know the guys down at West End Sports in Red Wing would be hapy to shoot you a price. I believe they still have one in the lot to look at as well. The 1890 is a great multi-species boat.

I have a new 1890 it is sweet ride, West End has one sitting in their lot.

It really hauls the bacon and rides smoooooth, I was shocked at how much smoother and dryer than my Lund.

If Lund is making a glass boat it is probably being made in Brunswick’s Mexican Bayliner plant.
