Sport Dog Collar Question

I bought a Sport dog Trainer a couple months back and am running out of batteries pretty quickly. I don’t exactly know the model, but it is the 400 yard, dual dog trainer. I charged it for 24 hours on the initial charge. The collar seemed to work fine for only one day. How long should a collar last on a charge. I was hoping to get a full weekend out of it atleast.

When I am hunting, I probably correct my dog two or three times a day right now on level 2 or 3.

    Thanks

Sure seems like it should last longer than that. Might need to contact there customer service department and ask them. I use Tri-tronic brand. I do not know how long it should lasts as I charge it every night.

i have the same collar-the charge on mine will last a few days, but i shut it off intermittently, when the dog is on the boat floor etc.etc. but i have had to send the collar part in for replacement twice and the remote once in 2 seasons. it just stops working completely. i will say that there cust service is good

Battery should last longer than that, give them a call, they have taken care of any issue I have had.

I had the same problem with my collar. The sport dog collars are junk! Yes there customer service department is very very good, but there product should be just as good if not better. Who wants to buy a brand new item and have to get replacement parts right away, no matter how fast they send em, or if there free. It just sucks to do so. They sent me a brand new collar for free but I called them pretty pissed off and gave them my .02. So you could try that. If I had the extra money Id either buy a new dogtra, or a tri-tronics collar and can the piece of crap that they produce.

Thanks guys. I still have the box and reciept from Cabelas. I might just use that as an excuse to bring it back and do some more looking around. I may even look into a different brand. Originally, I had the tri-tronics in my hand, and the guy helping me at Cabelas sure talked me into the Sport Dog. I get a bit nervous now with my collar out hunting. It is a safety net more than anything. It keeps them out of trouble and away from any roads.

    Thanks

Don’t let the guy at Cabelas talk that Tri-Tronics unit out of your hand. That unit is golden!!!

It holds a charge for me for several weeks, has a one-mile range, plenty of intensity settings and has worked flawlessly for several years (except when I forget to turn it on

That settles it. I am trading it in for a tri-tronics. I may even return the free window sticker I got from the SportDog Trainer.

It would be awesome to last a week. I have to have a collar that lasts atleast a long three day duck trip back in the woods with no power to charge.

I bought an extra battery for my Tri-Tronic collar just for that reason. Never have have to use it BUT it is great insurance, and it was reasonably priced.
