Most of the country doesn’t even think we have water in Nebraska, so I guess we should be happy they remembered us at all! Heck, most fo the country doesn’t even know where Nebraska is on a map!

They’ll continue to adds more lakes in the future. Remeber that the lakes with the best detail are the ones listed in RED on Navionics website. Other lakes will have various levels of detail, some decent, others not so good. It’s worth it though. I’m not sure what they have in store for 2007 for Nebraska. I will be talking to Jeff at Navionics this week. I’ll try to get the scoop for ya.

This is a quote from the 2007 Lakemaster web page

    Quote:

The chip is feature packed with a highly detailed road map, thousands of points of interest, State and wildlife management areas, parks, and Hunting zones.

Sounds like the detail is still there but I’ve never used one of their chips to know the difference.

It does sound that way from that description. I hope that’s the case. It’s a nice feature.

I heard a rumor that the 2007 Lakemaster chip does not have the road detail that the previous chip has. Is that true, or is it just a horrible rumor?

Just an aweful rumor. The detail is the same and even updated

    Good deal Matt!

You might be able to save me a phone call if you can answer the Garmin question. I’ll send you a PM.

I highly doubt the Mapcreate basemap has been upgraded let’s just hope they didn’t have to cut any of it out.

I’ll be doing a side by side comparision this weekend.

    Lakemaster garmin card

They show the 2006 version yet, on their site. I would guess that they’ll be releasing the 2007 chip for the Garmin units sometime fairly soon but I haven’t heard. We’ll try to contact Mike at Lakemaster on Monday and see what they have planned.

I just spoke with VP Jeff Hedlund about the Garmin cards. The Garmin / LakeMaster 2006-07 product was released back in March 2006. It has the exact same high-definition map surveys as the Lowrance product. The only difference is the Garmin product does not include Cass Lake or Pike Bay in high definition. Both products have a lot of DNR enhanced maps and Garmin can also now display one-foot contours, so the products for Garmin and Lowrance are pretty much on an even playing field at this time.

I beleive the only difference you’ll see is in terms of the color mapping. Some of the icons/points of interests are marked with color. In terms of roads and new data, Nothing is changed except for the new lakes and pro contour data.

Matt, I may be looking in the wrong place, but I am still slightly confused (shocker, eh). Does the Garmin product include the states outside of MN, such as IA, WI, MI, SD, and ND, like the Lowrance Lakemaster chip or does it only include Minnesota lakes?

There’s nothing on the Garmin List that indicates any lakes outside of MN. Thanks for the help!

I’m on that right now,…I’ll post later. I’m pretty sure that what is on the Garmin lakelist is all the lakes currently offered though.

yup I was right. The Garmin chip only contains MN lakes that are listed in that link above.

Also, the Garmin chip that is available now is the only one; and there is not a new one coming out for the 2007 season.

Thats electronics for ya Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

The new chip claims to have 744 lakes. Does anyone know how many lakes last years model contained. I’d be willing to update to the 07 but I can’t find anywhere it tells me how many lakes I currently have?! Thank you.

Also, what is a fair price for last year’s model?
If anyone is interested, make me an offer.

I’m pretty sure it was between 250-300 lakes. I’ve seen used chips going between $50-$65.

Look at the bottom of this link. It shows the new survey lakes added for 2007. Those are the lakes that would not be on your old chip.

Thanks, I went to Cabela’s last night to buy one and got the “all sold out” Apparently they pretty much doubled the Minnesota lakes and added some surrounding states and border lakes. The thing that bugs me is the Cabelas guy told me EVERY one of the lakes are Lakemaster surveyed. I know the website says they used DNR maps for their lower contoured lakes. Anyone confirm or not?

He also told me that Lakemaster is coming out with an exchange program in the spring for upgrading to new versions now. Something to think about if you don’t need the chip until summer time boys!!!!

Scott, We have the Lakemaster chips in stock as of today.

Not all of the lakes listed are survey lakes. I’m sure it was an honest mistake by the salesperson at Cabelas. You can view the full list of lakes at This Link. The survey lakes are in red and blue.
