Anyone know if it is possible to fix dents in a boat by yourself? I put a decent sized one in mine this weekend and just can’t stand looking at a dented boat.

I would think I could just pound it out with a mallet or something, but don’t want to screw something up real bad.
Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions of where to take it or how much it would cost. It’s about a 1.5 ft. dent under the water line and doesn’t need to be painted.

Hold a heavy , flat steel plate on the outside , then hammer dent out with a hard rubber or wood headed hammer. should work out the dent pretty easy.

Duck is right worked out great after someone hit my boat with the bobcat at my fathers house. And that was more than just a dent!

when banging it out, think of it like a bullseye and start at the outside and work your way to the center

as far as aluminum goes you would have to be carefull, but if you heat up the center and then super cool it (ice water soaked rag) it will shrink the metal and pop the dent out. if it is a big deep dent that has a lot of stretch to the material a little pounding may help. dont get to crazy with the heat, alittle at a time to find the right temp will work.

Thanks again guys. Got old the old trusty rubber mallet and the dent came out rather easily. Good as new.

    A heat gun, I don’t think I’d use a torch…….
