    Tom,

First thing to do, is to backup your waypoints to a SD card. Did you try the simple stuff. Remove the card, verify the contacts are clean and not corroded? Did you verify you have the correct datum selected in the setup?

I would try removing power completely from the unit. If reseting everything doesn’t work, you may try the “reboot” command. I’m sorry, but I don’t remember the button combination that you push for this. Can any else help with this??

Hey Tom, call Lowrance…they helped me this past summer with a problem. They have a great bunch of tech’s once you get your call through to them. It might take 10-20 minutes on hold sometimes.

Tom, What steps have you done so far? Are you familiar with Navionics maps or is this new? Reason I ask is some people don’t know you have to tell the unit to read the map. If I recall correctly, you’ve had the chip for a while now.

How to pull up a map… (Use the Lowrance notes) There are some other tips on the left side at that link.

If that isn’t the problem, you may need to to a reset on the unit. Take the chip out and make sure you have backed up all waypoints or you will LOSE THEM! Press the PAGES and POWER buttons at the same time to reset the unit. Then try the card again.

Ahhh, So it’s not reading the card at all. A restart may solve the problem. Let us know Tom.

is there any history of the navionics chip going bad? the navionics chip does not work, the eagle 480 does not even recognize the navionics chip. i put my lake master chip in and it recognizes it right away. is it the eagle intellamap 480 or the navionics chip. the chip is about 3 years old if that means anything………………tom fellegy

I have the same problem with my Eagle 480DF. It does not recognize the Navionics chip, which is brand new and I just updated the data on it so I know the chip is good. Has anyone found the solution?

That is a VERY old unit I would almost guarantee the new chips are not compatible with units that old. Might have to go to the Navionics website and find compatible units for each chip or contact support to get your answer though.
