I just bought a Fennwick rod. It is a HMX, IM7 graphite rod with fast action, Cross-Scrim construction (?) 7 foot spinnning rod in medium light action. I like it I guess. It seems to be a bit limber and I worry about hook set power. IT does not feel as sensitive I would like when I use really light jigs for casting if it is windy. Anyway, I paid 20 dollars for it brand new. It this a good deal? I have never owned a Fenwick before.

That is a pretty good deal. I think the HMX series usually sells for around $50 +. I have used the HMX IM7 in a 6′ spinning rod. It has been a pretty decent jigging rod. I never really saw a problem with hook sets on river Walleyes with it. I tend to sharpen jig hooks often and I use Lazer Hooks or Ultra Point Mustads for live bait rigs.

I now switched over to the Gander Guide Series Tournament Editions just because thye will physically hand me a new rod if something goes wrong. I loved my Fenwicks, but couldn’t be without the rod for 6-8 weeks if it got broke. I haven’t had many breaks, but the two I had were both Fenwick Eagle GT rods.

All in all, it’s a nice rod, you should have a decent warranty and IM7 is a decent blank.

    Enjoy
