Michigan Match Prop

I purchased a machigan match prop for a spare on my Yamaha 150 HPDI. They advertised that it has a rubber cushion, but the spine is set in aluminum at the end of the prop. My previous yamaha prop had a visible rubber cushion on the end. I contacted them, and they said it is built inside. Does anyone have experience with these props?

I run a stainless Michigan on my 75 Merc. Unlike a merc prop which has the removable middle, the Michigan is fixed in place. My understanding is that if the prop hits something hard enough to screw stuff up, the middle breaks loose. You then need to have the prop fixed. I haven’t hit anything to test the theory. I’ve had good luck with the prop so far.

Thanks for the post. It was a great deal on a prop, just don’t pay for it in the long run with the lower unit.

If it wouldn’t have been for the price, I wouldn’t have bought the prop. I think I paid 150 for a brand new stainless. Hopefully I won’t ever have to find out if the rubber cushion really works.
