I received a hydrofoil stabilizer (STINGRAY) as a gift and would like to know if they’re good as advertised – planing, eliminate side-to-side rocking, porpoising, etc. Any pros or cons would be helpful info before I decide to install on a 115 MERC/MR PIKE17. Thanks.

If you are porposing, or have a weak holeshot, they will definitely help!

But proping your boat right, if you have the problems above is a better solution. If you don’t have the problems above, I wouldn’t install it.

I had one on a 15′ tri-hull with an 85hp motor. It worked great!!! But I really don’t think I would put one on a boat as large as what you have.

I have a hydrofoil on my 15 foot runabout and noticed a difference in performance. The boat has no problem getting onto plane with it installed. If you have are having any problems with your boats performance, I would install it, but if you are happy with the way its running I’d leave it off. Personally, its one of the first things I put on when I get a new boat/motor. Hope this helps helps
