I was reading this month’s Infisherman & I saw Dave’s KA-Boom Ruff Guy deep diving shad raps. I was wondering if anyone has used them with any success. Also isn’t this the guy that had something to do with some other tackle company then sold it.

Dave was behind the Storm line of lures.

I’ve not tried any of his KaBoom lures.

Actually, the Storm Lure co. was owned by the father and uncle of Dave Storm, the owner of Dave’s Lures, and eventually sold to Rapala.

Dave’s Ruff Guys are a balsa wood crank thats available in 3 different sizes. They have excellent finishes and great colors. Dave’s line of baits also include a larger profile minnow called “Goodie Minnows”. Last year at the PWT Championship, Chase Parsons used the “Ruff Guy” to catch the 2 largest fish of the tourney. Their action is so good that he was able to troll at much slower speeds than the rest of the field, and still reach the depth he needed and maintain the wobble needed to trigger strikes.

This year Dave introduced the “Mean Streak” line of lures, which is a jointed version of the popular “Winning Streaks” lure, and just this month unvailed another lure from that design that is called a “Streak Freak”. This lure has in place of the tail of the minnow behind the joint, a “tube” with a plastic skirt much like a tube jig. Several of these models are available in the popular “prism” finishes as well as a wide assortment of painted color combonations.

Click on the Dave’s Lures link in my signature and take a look at our entire line of baits.

The “Mean Streaks” were really effective on Mille Lacs this year!!

Does anyone in the metro carry this lures or do you have to order them online only.

Gander, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and Cabela’s carry them, but not in large numbers. Sportsman’s probably has the largest selection.

Extreme Tackle sells them also, as well as their own custom color patterns of Dave’s Lures as well.

I picked through a bunch at my local Gander this evening. Nice variety of jointed ones, shallow and deep-diving stick baits too. The price was right for all of them (4.99) so I rang a few up to use this fall.

Thorne Brothers has a few of the Ruff Guy’s in the Crayfish colors, I don’t think anyone else in the metro has them We have all the colors in stock. As far as the mean Straeks go, They do catch a fish or two.
    Good Luck
