Pflueger Baitcasters

I really like Pflueger Products, and have used their products for years. I’ve decided it’s time to buy a baitcaster from them rather than using other brands. But I don’t know if spending 100 dollars more is going to get me that much better of a reel than one of their cheeper models. my question is, is buying their top model, the supreme, for $170 a good idea or should i buy one of their cheeper models? If so which one?

I was looking at the Supreme baitcaster too. It sure looks and feels nice. It’s light too, but I’ve never used the brand so I didn’t drop the 170. I did buy a 50 dollar Pres spinning reel a couple of weeks ago for ice fishing and pan fish in the summer but I haven’t even spooled it up yet.

If you go cheaper, get the President baitcaster. I was a big fan of Shimano before I tried this. You won’t be disappointed.

You know the old saying ‘you get what you paid for’. If you’re new to baitcasting, its easy to understand why a person would hesitate to pay sooo much for a reel. I started out using baitcasters in the $50 -$100 range and moved up. I can really tell the difference now between the cheaper models and the more expensive kind. It shows up in how the reel feels when you’re winding the line in, to the weight of the reel and its longevity. Depending on the construction, the bearings won’t wear as fast and it will give you the same performance after years of use.
