I’m looking at getting a pair of decent polarized glasses in the near future. To date, I’ve always bought moderately priced glasses and they’ve worked out all right, but I’d like something a little better.

I’m looking to spend no more than $150 and was looking for some suggestions. What types of things should I look for. The Costa Del Mar Wave Killers have piqued my interest right now, but I’m open to any advice.

They’ll see use mainly for bass fishing, bowfishing, and driving.

    Thanks!

    I second Andy’s comment.
I love my costa’s, they are very light and comfortable.

Solar Bat E-blocks or Costa Hammerheads. Can’t go wrong with either one!

Costa’s are the only way to go. I have 4 pair that I where depending on the conditions. They are unbelievable, you can actually see better with them on both in low light conditions and bright light conditions. I prefer the 580 lens, but the 400’s work well and are easier on the pocket book.

I think the Costa Del Mar 580 Lens were voted best at the recent ICAST show

Not looking to steal your thread , but what should a guy expect to pay for prescription Costas?

Costas are great, but Ocean Waves (with backwater green lenses) are a little better, in my opinion. Of course, my main concern is seeing in the water when I’m musky fishing and for that OW’s green lenses are the best!

Are all Costas polarized? If a person can only afford 1 pair, what color lens is best for all around use? Thanks in advance.

Yes, Costa’s are polarized. The Wave 580 lens only comes in two colors Copper & Grey. Copper is the best all around, because they work excellent in Low Light Conditions. I have yet to find a lens that is even close to the 580 Lens. Remember, when comparing Costa’s you have to take into account the lens in them your choices are:

    Wave 400 CR-39
    Wave 400 Glass
    Wave 400 Glass Mirror
    Wave 400 Polycarbonate
    Wave 580 Glass

So, when someone says a pair of Sunglasses is better than Costa’s, I know they are not comparing the Wave 580’s they are amazing.

One other thing about the 580’s, they enhance color so when you take them off, it is kind of dissapointing to see how little color our eye can actually see without them on.

Depends on the model. $200 and up, I’d say.

I have a pair of Costas…very good. I sent them in for warranty work about a year ago and th eservice is NOT good. I have heard this many times since then. Might want to look at a different brand that is willing to stand behind their product.

Ralph. I have had two pairs of Costa Wave Killers. First ones left the boat! I would not have any other kind. They are glass lenses and very comfortable.

I love my Costas as well. The Vermillion lens color is the best I have found for seeing veg in the water.

Persoanlly, I wouldn’t buy glass. Glass can shatter and I don’t want to take the risk myself.

I am intruiged by the Smith glasses though.

Smith’s have an outstanding return policy. Send in broken pair and $50 they will replace with same $160 pair(or whatever). I’ve done this twice. Customer service was a pleasure. I’ve simply had no reason to try another brand for 5 years.
