    Way more accurate.

The gps makes it possible to watch your speed when slow trolling Lindy’s around a half mile an hour.

I have noticed that the speed on my hand held H20C is alot less accurate than than the X15mt on he dash that has a puck antena. I dont think it gets as good of a signal???

But the paddle wheel or lower unit intake are not even close to as accurate as either GPS though.

GPS is the way to go!

GPS measures speed over ground (SOG) and is very accurate. Some river guys also like the addition of the speed wheel to help account for current influences. For example, if your trolling up stream into a 1 mph current and your GPS speed reads 2.5 mph, your speed wheel might read 3.5 mph due to the current. Make sense? IMO, GPS speed is required. A speed wheel is optional.

    Shaley,

Turn your pinning off and it will read under 1 mph.
