I have not tried the shakpeares out, but if you have the money the new Shimanos get my vote. I have 8 Sealines and they have served me well, but their drags don’t compare to the Shimanos.(Especially when you have a big eye on.) I had the opportunity to compare my new Shimanos out to my sealines on Erie and there was a huge difference. I hope this helps.

I have used a shakespeare line counter for trolling lead. It is not a very good reel but it is cheap. If you have the extra bucks go for the sealine.

I’m a fan of the sealines, then again I always use light drag and the clicker on when in the holders. I did start using a Bass Pro Gold Cup and think they are pretty darn good so far.

Kevin, I have 4 of the Sealines and they are great. I wouldn’t change them for any other line counter reel, but that is just me!! Spend the extra money now, and you won’t regret it later.

Until you try the Shimanos. I agree the Sealines are great, but I have found out that for no matter the use ie; long line, planer boards and I’m sure lead would be the same. The ultimate Line Counter Reel is the Shimano Tekotas hands down no questions asked. These things are like steel and like a previous post said, there drags are not comaprable to anyhting else on the market. They are that GOOD, Spendy but I’m finding out, worth every penny. I have 2 500’s and a brand new 300. I really notice the difference in the reels when I’m pulling boards. The muscle and beef these things have is incredible. I can’t wait for this fall on the pond.

Well I’ll throw another option in. I like the Okuma Magda 15’s Been real good to me so far over the last 2 years. Of course I don’t log the amount of hours some of you guys do. HOF(site sponsor) carries them and is a Okuma fan. Check it out.

I have used sealines for a few years and they’ve been great. I got a chance to use Rob’s Tekota a few weeks ago and that was a great reel, no doubt. I don’t have much on-the-water experience with any other linecounters.
