Garmin 240 trouble

I’m having a problem with 1 of my Garmin 240 fishfinders. The 1 that’s on my trolling motor will not show any bottom detail, temp still works and I get a digital depth display, but no bottom contour. I have switched this unit out with the 1 in the rear of the boat, still the same problem. I can hear the transducer ticking. Is it time to replace the transducer? Nick in the cord (if there’s one I can’t find it). Anyone else had this problem? If I need to replace, suggestion on dealer near by?

I just had my transducer stop working on the troling motor as well (not a 240). I cleaned all the connections and nothing worked. Got a new transducer the other day and it works now. I think on mine one of the cords may have gotten pulled a little too hard and the connection went bad. If cleaning it does not work then I would try a new transducer.

Rick, To clarify, are you saying that head unit will not work on either the bow or the transom transducer, but the other unit you have works on the transom transducer? If that’s the case it doesn’t sound like the ducer is the problem.

Is the other unit also a 240?

wade, dad wanted me to tell you, it doesnt matter what unit you put on the bow. it still does the same thing.
    Thanks,

So the working 240 from the rear will not work on the bow. Then it’s the transducer I’d say.

Is your locator wired to the same battery as the trolling motor? Does the problem only occur when using the trolling motor?

    Derek,

Give Garmin a call. I sent my unit in for some work and they replaced the transducer with a updated model. that was the puck style but they may have done the same the the trolling motor transducer.
