So far I like it. It seems quite a bit different that GM. I haven’t compared prices. I just go for availability and they seem to have some nice stuff. I guess what I’m saying is I like the place but dont know exactly why yet?? What do you guys think about it?

I like their stores. Most of the people there know their departments and how to fish/hunt.
Selection is great and priced right.
I am even happier now that the Woodbury store is open, as I will not run into Briank in the Coon Rapids store now.Ron
June 9, 2006 at 3:39 pm #452671I really like Sportsmans Warehouse. Good prices, knowledgable staff, good selection.
grousePosts: 64June 9, 2006 at 3:41 pm #452673I was in the Sportsmans Warehouse in Woodbury last week, and I was pleasantly surprised by the products and prices that were available. I seemed to be in a rut by returning to Gander Mountain time after time to get stuff, but no more, Sportsmans Warehouse has won me over as a customer.
June 9, 2006 at 8:19 pm #452766I stopped at Cabelas the other day to get a couple of lighted bobbers. I thought they were kind of high on the price. Went to Sportsmans and the were marked $1.50 lower on the shelf then Cabelas. They didn’t ring in at that but they still rang in at 89 cents less then Cabelas. I like the fact that they have enough people working that can help you out unlike other places.

Amen to that one! I really like their stores and would shop there. Wish there was one in the Madison area.
Been to the Green Bay and Milwaukee stores.
June 10, 2006 at 2:13 pm #452851I think Sportsmans Warehouse is hunting and fishings best kept secrets in the Metro area.
My favorite wife dragged me into the one in St Cloud 3-4 years ago..I thought it was one of those “althletic stores” and I kicked and screamed all the way in.
Then I found that had the Gamakasu 10/0 hooks that I use for $1.79…which is about .50 less expensive than anywhere I’ve found them…and finding them isn’t easy either!I had the pleasure of taking out a couple of Sportsmans Warehouse employees last Sunday night. Jake is a fishing dept expert and Chuck, who’s in hunting. Photo above. Both great guys and REALLY into hunting and fishing.
When you stop into the Woodbury store…ask for these two guys and tell them to sign up as registered members here! (They’ll help you find whatever your looking for…too)
You’ll find that Sportsmans Warehouse will be about the same for most small ticket items, but less expensive on the larger ticket merchandise.
I was talking with Darin, the fishing dept manager, the otherday about catfishing…and Sportsmans Warehouse having the hooks that I use, but not the no roll sinkers. I haven’t heard if they’ve located an outlet for them…but they were trying to stock them for us cat guys. I’ve never seen this before at other fishing department stores. Generally…either they stock an item…or they don’t…end of story.
Scott Mueller is the General Manager. Although I’ve only met him once, I can tell he loves his job….right after hunting and fishing!
OH! Almost forgot the most important person!
Stop in the customer service area and ask for Ashley’s autograph! She’s out fished Jake EVERY TIME they’ve gone out together!
Jake has a few bruises to his ego at this time….
Personally, I think if Coon Rapids store is run like Woodbury and St Cloud…the word will get out and Sportsmans Warehouse will be THE place to go for all your fishing and hunting needs in the very near future.
Check them out, I think you’ll be happily surprised!
June 12, 2006 at 1:54 am #453032Brian, I know they don’t have no-rolls, but I did find big pyramid and bank sinkers, which is better than I can say for most stores in the area.
June 12, 2006 at 1:30 pm #453101Ryan,
I’ll check on the status…if they are/can getting them tomorrow and report back…
I think Darin will be back from a visit to Idaho then.
June 12, 2006 at 1:51 pm #453112The Sportsman’s Warehouse in Coon Rapids have really helped us out for our Pheasants Forever banquets and Kid’s Days. They have been great, and they aren’t even in our county!!
June 12, 2006 at 4:14 pm #453171I visit the Coon Rapids store regularily and I am never disappointed as they have most everything that I come in there for!
Good inventory, good prices, good staff all make for pleasant shopping. Even though most my visits are very brief “in and out” stops….its nice to be able to do that without standing in big lines and dealing with parking clutter. in my book!June 12, 2006 at 6:26 pm #453218I just left the SW store in Woodbury about an hour ago. I’ve got nuttin’ but good things to say at this point. I’ll be back…. the location is excellent for those of us coming from the metro headed south to the river.
June 12, 2006 at 7:10 pm #453230What time were you there? I left around noon. I needed a new set of hip waders to go chase willow kitties.
June 12, 2006 at 7:28 pm #453237You guys need to shop on Tuesdays!
…or did you go there today…because I was going there tomorrow?
