OK Bass guys…I have been introduced to the wonderful world of fishing Senkos and other Stick/Jerkbaits for big bass.
My mentor uses 30# braid with 12# floro leaders (crystal clear lakes). I am doing OK but the braid seems to lack the “tautness?” of mono and the damn wind puts a big bow in it so easy.
Do any of you fish this technique with mono? If so what kind and pound test do you like? I am thinking of trying a hi vis type mono(Sufix, Trilene or Cajun) in 14-17″ test…I am using Quantum Accurist reels on 7′ St. Croix MF rods.

Have been using 12# Trilene ( XT / Big Game ) Green, for the last 3-4 years with the sinko’s. Hard to get me to use anything else, unless up in the poo. Not a big fan of hi-vis line, just me. Hope that this is helpful.

Been using 12# Trilene clear for soft jerkbaits and it works just fine. I would bet that the hi vis mono line would work great. You get some funny bites with soft jerk baits in that the fish will take it and swim so quickly that it hard to keep up with where the fish is when you go to set the hook. The hi vis line would sure help with that!

I use 15# seagar flouro and that stuff is the ticket.Line sinks and there is no stretch. Was out with kizew and he was throwing as far as he could and when he set the hook lilly pads would get cut right of. we did not miss many fish. Great line just a little spendy.

I’ve been using a P-line 12# floro leader but maybe just spooling all floro is the ticket…

What about Vanish Transition? It turns a bright yellow above water and should be heavier for a good sink rate and low stretch…

    Tom,

I recently spooled 2 rods with Seaguar. 12# for flipping plastics and 20# for jigs. Great line! Just keep in mind that it has a TON of memory (Like any Flourocarbon) and can bite you in the if you aren’t careful.

Great option if your good with a bait caster.

    Good luck

IMO, Flourocarbon without question. If you don’t backlash much, Sugoi is sweet but spendy. Sme with Gamma. I also like Seaguar.

Seagur is quickly becomming my favorite fishing line. It’s strength and low memory is just unbelivable.

What type of Seagur are you guys using? Not just #, but the name of the line.
