I’m wondering If I have the right prop for my boat.I have a 1991 Alumacraft Dominator with a 1991 40hp Evinrude.I’m only turning 4600 RPM’s at WOT.I have it trimmed up all the way and it doesn’t matter if it’s just me in the boat or with somebody else.Right now I have a 12.25 x 15 propeller on the boat. Also I have raised the motor one hole,so it is one hole up from the bottom setting. Is there any one else that has the same set-up and can give me some advice?

P.S. The compression on both cylinders is 140,so I know the motor is in good shape.

You need a smaller diameter or smaller pitch prop… likely both as your motor should be topped out in excess of 5000 RMP for the best performance.

I just went from a 13 to an 11 with my 60hp on a Navigator 165. Much better.. I was only hitting 4800 RPM. Now I’m hitting 5500..
