Poor Performance

I have a 2000 Johnson 225 and the performance is puzzling me. It is real doggy out of the hole and it runs about 4900 -5000 rpms when it should run 6000. I have run a can of tuner thru the carbs, replaced the plugs and ran a bottle of Gumout super injecter cleaner. I also have removed the brass plugs under each carb and pumpted gas out of each one. It is running on fresh gas but it is still a big dog. About to seek proffesional help. Anything else I could try?

What pitch prop are you running?

Same prop as last season, 4 blade OMC customized by Rich Bolger and a rock pile on pool 9. 13 1/2 x 27 Renegade

DO you have a spare prop? Maybe try that first and see if you get your RPM’s before paying shop labor!

Your custumized rock pile prop could very easyily be your problem.

The prop was only roughed up on the edge of 2 blades. I did lose 3-4 mph. Coming out of the hole it will clean out for a couple of seconds and surge but then dog out again. Something is clogged , maybe another can of tuner perhaps

    Maybe check your fuel filter?

Thats one thing I have not thought of, and one I have not noticed. I would guess they are in line type . Thanks for all the inputs guys. I was out on a no wake lake this eve so I did not get a chance to run at all. Did catch a mule tho, just under 22″ largemouth.
