Eagle anyone?

I’m considering a new color depth finder for my boat and am in a quandry. I’ve had my eye on a Lowrance 102c, 332c or 334c for a while, but haven’t had the cash to pull the trigger. Meanwhile, the Eagle 500c series is a lot more reasonable, has the same power, but lower resolution.

Any comparisons I should consider? Does anybody have much experience with Eagle’s regarding their quality? I don’t need the GPS capability, but I would like the color.

Any feedback will help me make an informed choice.

    Thanks.

I’ve got the Fishmark 500c and Intelimap 500c on my console. I’m very pleased with both units. The only thing I’ve noticed different(comparing to 332c), is the processor speed. The Lowrance screens seem to refresh just slightly faster, I’m talking 1 sec. So hardly noticeable.

The resolution doesn’t seem noticable, however I have not looked at the same bottom structure at the same time, side by side to compare.

All in all, I would buy Eagle again in a heartbeat.

I had great luck with the Eagle units on my last boat . If I was in the market to purchase again I would go with Eagle for sure. Lowrance is nice, but I think you get more bang for your buck with the Eagle. If you have the cash burning a hole in your pocket then go lowrance.

I replaced an X-15 with an Eagle Fishstrike 2000C. I really like that unit as well.

I’ve been looking at the Eagle FishElite 640c. It has a 5″ diag screen with 640v x 480h pixels. The Lowrance LMS-332C only has 480v x 480h. Doesn’t this mean the Eagle will have better separation between fish and the bottom?

    Yes, when comparing those units.

I’ve got a 500c, just purchased this year. It’s my first color unit and I really like the added visibility in sunlight. It has performed well for me so far.

Does anyone know if depth-finders get cheaper twards winter? Or do they stay the same?

I run a Fishstrike 2000C by Eagle, and I love it. I’ve fished with a friend who runs a Lowrance X-25C, and they are virtually identical units. The only real difference I can see is the Lowrance has a few more bells and whistles that I don’t need, and may be a microsecond faster updating. I would strongly recommend Eagle!

One difference is the power output. The Lowrance (102c) has 2400 watts peak to peak power, where the Eagle (500c) has 1500 watts.

Does anyone know how much of a difference the more power would help?
