I have a 55lb minn kota that is a 2005. It runs great all the way to Max power. When At Max power it turns on and off continuously and shakes back and forth. Is this right or is something wrong?

Hmmm…I would like to say check your circuit breaker first and make sure it is a 50amps. After that, I would like to say, make sure your battery is in good health. Finally, I would say, ask someone else more knowledgeable or call Minnkota.

Sounds real similar to the problem that I was having, on the opener of coarse . The problem with mine was the foot pedal. After dissassembling the foot pedal I found that it consists of 5 contact points. The one that was causing me problems was the one for the variable speed selector. Its simply wasn’t pushing down hard enough and telling my motor how fast to go. When that happens, it would just click on and off rapidly. So what I did was put SMALL gob of 2 part plastic epoxy to increase the length of the tab that pushed on the contact. Solved my problem.

If your motor is still under warranty I would definetly take the motor or the foot pedal in to have it looked at first.

The next step would be to get a cable drive trolling motor . I know thats my next step .

2 year warranty. the shop will know from the serial #. Depends on where you are at—- Fish-lectronics in fridley/columbia hgts area. maybe Reeds in brainerd area. should be a list of dealers in your manual. I got the number to the local area Minn kota rep a few years back when my AP was wacky. his name is Gary Plath. if i still have the number I will send you a PM with it.
