I need to upgrade my trolling motor. I currently have a 8-9 year old Minnkota powerdrive 50. I want to go up to the 70-75 lb thrust model. Have any of you tried the new Motor Guide cordless model yet? I have never had any problems with the Minnkota, but the Motor Guide looks pretty nice also. What do you think?

No experience with the new Motorguide. I’ve run 2 Minnkotas and 1 Motorguide. I would stick with Minnkota.
    Just my 2 cents

I sure enjoy having the co-pilot on the Minnkota, I don’t know Motor Guide something like that or not.

The new Minnkota Maxuum with lift assist is a nice unit. I don’t have the life assit on my Maxuum but my next one will. I believe the lowest thrust you can get in the Maxuum is 74 Lbs. They used to make a 65 Lbs but they must have discontinued it as I haven’t seen it listed. I have owned both Motor Guide and Minnkota and my Maxuum is the best so far.

I have just upgraded from a 55 thrust to 80 lb. thrust Minnkota. Have you ever talked to a man who said that his trolling motor or garage was too big? By the way, I had auto pilot on the rig that I had before. I did not add it to the rig I have now and I am going back to auto This new rig is on 24 volt syetem. pilot.

Somebody told me once, “Son, I wouldn’t beat eggs with a f…ing Motor Guide.”
Buying a Minn Kota is definitely a better investment.
I have a 101 with lift assist and it is beautiful.

So, it looks like the Minn Kota has the popular vote. That is what I have been leaning toward. I have not given the autopilot any thought until now. I may have to look at that line also. Thanks for the input.
