I just ordered a 1850 Fish Hawk DC with a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke. The boat is rated for a 150, but decided the 4 stroke was the way to go. After motor break in, I am planning on getting a stainless steel prop to get WOT Rpm’s to 6000. I am curious what top speed I can expect with this set up. Any recommendations are appreciated.

You’ll see mid – upper 40’s. I really like the lay-out of the 1850’s… wish we could get a few of the fishhawk design concepts into the Tournament Series boats actually. Congrats on the new boat.

I second James’ opinion, my 115 Yamaha 4 stroker pushes my 1700 Lund Fisherman with tons of gear up to 43-44 with just me on board. That 140 should have the extra beans to get that 1850 flying.

congrats sandbar. maybe I’ll see you on the ‘Croix since you live in Woodbury. I’ve got a 90 2-stroke Merc on my 1750 Fishawk. according to the speedometer I can run in the low 40’s. what would anybody recommend prop-wise to increase speed/performance? the boat seems plenty fast to me, just wondering how to squeeze a few more mph’s out of it

Thanks SteveO, I am really looking forward to this new boat. It should be everything I am looking for in a fishing rig. If I remember right, you bought yours last year. For prop sizing, you could look at Merc online, find the diameters and pitch available for your motor, then try Marine Associates up on the hill in Hudson. They may have props you could test to get your WOT rpm’s where they need to be. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

    thanks for the advice.
I am really pleased with the Fishawk I bought last year. I only wish I had bought an 1850!! j/k. I wanted to get the 115 for the boat but the dealer didn’t want to break it up.
I didn’t have a single issue with the C-liner last year except the travel cover ripped in two spots. I talked to a guy at the Sportshow and C-liner will fix it or replace it.
Hope you enjoy your new rig as much as I do mine. What color did you end up with?

    StevO,

Went with black exterior and tan carpeting. Is your travel cover the type that snaps to the sides of the boat?

    sweet. same color as mine.

yeah, the front grommet that goes on the pole towards the front of the boat keeps popping out. I have a grometting machine at work and have tried to re-grommet it 4 times. still rips out. also on the back, by the motor one of the snaps has started to fray. I talked to a guy from Crestliner and he told me to return it to the dealer and they would take care of it. If you bought one you know they ain’t cheap!

I had a new 1850 DC that I brought to the GTG last July. All I could get in a Yammy 4 stroke was a 115. Great motor but even after several prop swaps could only get 37mph fully loaded. You’ll probably do mid 40s with the 140 Zook.
I ended up with a 2003SC 1750 after totaling my 1850 and it, with the same 115 Yammy does 48-50 w/stainless prop (go figure).
If I got another 1850 I believe the new 150 Yammy 4stroke would be a much better match.
    You’ll love your C-liner!

I also have the 1750sc and like the boat. I have a 125 Merc with top speed at 48 speedo. I also have the snap travel cover and its held up real well so far, no signs of wear. Only one season of usage so far. SteveO? Have you taken yours in to C-liner yet for the cover problem?
You will like the boat. I do wish I would have gone a bit bigger. But that would’nt be big enough either

    Dman,
1 year’s usage is all for me also. I pull it with a Jimmy. I’ve noticed the air flow over the top of the truck seems to put a great amount of pressure on that area of the grommet in the bow. I trailer the boat quite a bit and wondering if that has something to do with it?
Tuckner hooked me up with somebody from C-liner management. He told me to return it to the dealer and they would handle it. I dropped it off the other day. Apparently the 3 year warranty applies to covers. I haven’t heard back yet.
The covers are spendy and I would be very disappointed if they didn’t make it right after only one year’s usage.
I love the boat however. The new 1850 Muskie Edition is the bomb. Maybe next year…..
