Last fall one of the last time I took my boat out there was a lot of duck weed on the surface and the water intake plugged up and the motor got pretty hot. It cooled down and I got the water to flow again, but the next time I took it out I had trouble keeping it going and we had to pump the bulb to keep fuel to it. It is in the shop now and he thinks that when it got hot I probably damaged the water pump and the fuel pump which is on the side of the motor. My question is: does anyone have any ideas to help this from happening to me again? My motor is a late ’80’s 50 horse Mercury. I have had great luck with it. Where we were fishing the bass were pounding frogs on the top so I know I’d like to go back there in the future . Thanks
