I installed the new Humminbird VHF 255 fixed mount marine radio in my boat this spring and i’m very impressed with the high quality of this radio. My favorite marine band was the old humminbird DSC-10 which they quit making many years ago. Ive been through many radios in the past couple years and decided to go with another Humminbird. The key features I like about this radio are :

    *Large display
    *Channel changer on mic
*Submersible with a 3 year warranty
*GPS DSC compatibility- great for areas without cellphone coverage
    *Compact size
*Quality stainless steel mounting hardware included
    *Three scanning modes
    *Signal strength indicator
    * Push of a button distress signal
    *Price- retails for $149

If your in the market for a new radio, I highly recommend the VHF 255.

Installation was extremely simple but I have a tiller. The radio does also come with flush mount brackets.

Must say that it looks real good. Very neat installation. Your command console also looks real “commanding”. Did you get an antenna?

PS. I see an LMS332/4 there and probably a bottomfinder or something. What is the last one for?

Yes, I have a 8 foot whip mounted behind me on the top rail with a ratchet mount. From left to right is a Sitex CV106, GlobalMap 3600C and the color Vexilar Edge3

Can you show some photos how you wired it to the antenna and how the antenna was mounted? Thanks

Look at my recent mille lacs fishing report. You can see in one of the pictures to the left of me is my antenna. Its mounted on a rachet mount and then mounted on the top rail of the boat. The coax was then routed under the rod locker and then feed through the port hole where the motor leads go into the battery box. Then its simply a matter of screwing the connector into the rear of the radio.
