Rod repair

I’m looking for a place that could change the guides on a Shimano Compre rod. I noticed that one ring is missing and two others are cracked, or is it going to cost more than the rod is worth? I was trying to figure out why they broke, because its the middle three guides and the only explanation I came up with is that it was from rattling around in the rod tubes in the boat. Is that possible? Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does shimano offer a warranty on this rod..? I would check that first.

I called the place I puchased it at and was told it had a 2 year warranty which expired. 2003 and newer Compre rods have a lifetime warranty. Unless that was misinformation.

Where do you live? There are at least 2 places in Rocheser, Mn who could easily change out the guides.

I had to look up Byron on Mapquest, that would be a little drive for me. There must be someone around St Cloud that would do it? Any thoughts on my theory that the guides are getting broke by bouncing inside the plastic rod tubes in my boat, or am I way out of line here.

If you run hard EVERYTHING gets beat up. Heck, even while trailering the vibration can ruin things. Rod socks will help a little.

Should cost you no more than 8 bucks a guide. You may want to consider replacing all if they have a ceramic ring. They can come loose from using non stretch and power lines.
