I imagine I should know this answer, but, I dont.
When you buy a new reel, howcome you get an aluminum And a graphite spool. I assume one is better for one kind of line and the other for something else? The paperwork with the reels dont mention anything about what to do with which. Can someone set me straight here.
    Thanks a bunch

Cast Graphite spools are cheaper to make and typically aren’t as sturdy or resistent to stratching, chipping or overall “showing of use” like the aluminum jobbies which are usually machined. It’s just a way for the manufacturers to say your getting a spare spool, which you are, and not drop the money for the aluminum.

Go with or order your extra spools in aluminum.
Most mfg. use smaller dics’s in the graphite spools drag systems.
