If you are going to replace it ( which I would imagine you are ) I would first call a few dealers to find out what it would be worth in trade. Ask some what it is worth the way it is and other dealers what it`s worth running. Don`t mention it was blown up. I don`t know what to say about your particular motor but my Evinrude 60 horse tiller stuck the rings after only 2 1/2 years. Went through the same thing trade it or fix it. ( wasn“t worth anything the way it was in trade )Found a good mechanic he put in after market pistons and rings cost $1400 to rebuild. But it runs better now then it ever did new and it`s going on 9 years now with out a lick of trouble. So whats better it`s a tough call and I guess it yours to make. If totally unhappy I guess I would look at getting a different motor.
