I am updating my GPS in my boat and am wondering if anyone knows how to transfer the waypoints that I have in my old one to the new one? They are both Lowrance Mapping units.

Do they both have the ablity to read/write to an MMC chip? If not, do you have the data cable for the units? You can download Lowrance’s freeware software to capture from your old unit and upload to an MMC chip or directly to the unit.

Let us know, I’m sure someone will have the answers.

Cool. That is the easiet. Now, if you don’t have a chip, run to walmart or best buy and get a little one. 32Mb would/should be more than enough. However if you plan to store your data on the chip long term, get a 128Mb.

I can’t recall the exact menu commands, but you should be able to get them from your users manual. Save to the MMC. Then move the chip over to your new unit and upload.

Personally I backup all my waypoints to the pc every so often just because you never know when that chip will get lost or damaged.

If you need help with specific menu commands let me know. I also need to know the model of the units you have.

I am transferring from a 4800 to a 6600. I will be trying to do this later on today. I heard that it is fairly simple, but I have never done it.

    Thanks
