Hi fellow anglers, Have been watching site for a few weeks now and finally registered after reading many of your posts and how great everyone is helping each other with questions. So my first couple are, this will be the first time for me going to the northwest sportshow and was wondering if it’s a good place to find deals on fishing equipment or is more for just seeing the new things? Also I need to get a couple planer board rods and was wondering what you think of the cabellas trolling rods as I don’t pull that many cranks but I have to start. Live in SD and fish Oahe alot. Thanks guys

Welcome to the site and out of Lurker mode Gordo

I have never been to the NW Show either but will be down there this week working a booth for BFN tackle along with some other IDA staffers. The way it sounds a lot of Staffers will be down there working for there Sponsors. Way to many to list, but make sure you find the BFN tackle booth and say Hi to the guys working. I’m guessing there will be some deals but not sure.

As far as your Planer board rod questions go. I have (3) of them and think they really do a good job for the money. I got them with a combo deal with the Cabelas Depth Master Gold Line Counter Reels. I got the rod for only $10 basically so yes I like them. You can also get these rods with the Diawa Line Counter Reels. Are there better rods out there? Yes, but they will get the job done just fine. I have the 9′ Telescoping model.

Again welcome, and I hope to see you at the show

I’d say if you know what your looking for compare before you go.I confess that I’ve bought “Show Specials” and then found the same item cheaper closer to home.

Hands down best time of the year to negotiate on big ticket itmes – like electronics. I have watched others and coached a few to walk into retailer XYZ and ask for the best price and then say thanks as I am here to buy and the best priced vendor will earn my money and move onto the next. With all the major retailers having booths, what better time to compare shop by only taking a few steps.

    That’s my $.02

Seems like every years I come across a vendor with a “Hog Trough” full of cranks for $2-3 bucks each and I end up buying $200-300 worth of them.

There are deals to be found. And Ted is right on the electonics. Get a bidding war going between Capra’s and Reeds.

Talking about going to the bathroom Tuck, wait till you see what that 3 year old kid did in the livewell of your boat at the show tonight! Too bad there was no way to pump it out, what with the carpeting and all!

Sorry to have to tell you.

Kooty I don’t think any SD’an that regsiters can bring down the sites IQ any further down than when you signed up.

Jack that is ok, cause I went over and looked at Tucks new boat and some little kid took the Garmin and dropped it over the edge and took a marker to the boat So Tuck now has a G8 boat, not a G3 …………. Ok soo it wasn’t a little kid, but Holst made me do it

I meant they couldn’t pump the well out because of the carpeting on the floor of the convention center!
