Have read all the posts on the St. Croix rods. Need a little advice. Debatting between the AS66MF and AS68MXF. Going to have to use as a more versitile rod than just pitching plastics. Will the 68 work for lindy rigging and vertical jigging or stick with the 66. I just finished redoing all the kitchen cabinets to get permission to buy this. I think I would rather skin skunks than do that again.

    Art,

I would look at how often you vertical jig vs. the other 2 applications. The 6’8 will work well for the casting and rigging application. For vertical jigging I would recommend the 6’6 if I had to chose one over the other. The 6’6″ work’s well for all 3 applications in my opinion. I have 6 of the AS66MF and am very happy with them.

To be honest with you I have never used the 6’8″ so maybe someone with experience with that model will jump in here and hand out there views.

    Now go get those skunks!

Thanks Dustin. Thats the one I got. Picked it up yesterday am so I had to go try it out. Went to Everts. Windy and cold. Had trouble controlling boat. What a rod. I thought I had some decent rods but they are junk compared to this one. Only caught a few small ones. Can’t wait for a decent day to give it a real test. Tried anchoring and casting, boat wouldn’t hold and as this is a new technique for me it was tough with the wind grabbing line. Have to check this forum for suggestions on anchors. I know they have been talked about here. Again thanks
