They shoot through aluminum just fine. Be sure there are no air bubbles below the ducer. For a less permanent installation, silicone works very well and will hold it in place. If there is bubble issues, its much easier to deal with than epoxy.
You will lose some sensitivity. The .190 hull must be on a River Pro? I have been in an RP with a thru hull transducer and they dont pick up the baitfish as well as a standard transom mount ducer, but it seemed to be picking most everything else up. Most boats out there are maybe 1/2 as thick on the hull guage as a RP where I would assume it should read a bit better, not that its bad on the rp.
