when i first started fishing the big lake I started out in a 1650 explorer. My brother made me stainless steel moutning bar, worked great, and also had rod holer on it too. I used the cannon maunal downriggers, and mounted them on the edge of bar and got the telescope type so i could adjust the arm to fit the boat and with swivel mounts too!! I mounted it to the raised deck in the back of boat and that way i could remove easliy also. They might make something out ther to to fit boat. Not usre if this helps you out or not?

Which downriggers, that depends what your looking for, and how much you want to spend.
I myself had Cannon mag 10’s, had them for many years, did most of my downrigging on Lake Of The Woods. The last couple years I’ve been salmon fishing in Lake Michigan so I went to the Cannon Mag 15’s just for the faster retrieve.

My advice now is that eventually, you would need something that would mount to your gunnel instead of a transom downrigger bar. I think it opens up the space and is probably neater. I am now thinking of getting some tracks installed and mounted.

But I have done this. Using Scotty removal pedestals and a piece of wood…made my own downrigger bar. All for about USD 120.

As for real boards, I know the Berts and Pursuit and TL all have 8-9 foot transom boards that come with 2 pedestals that need to go on the gunnel. They generally cost from USD299 onwards. I think there was an open item at Gander Mountain somewhere N of Chicago that had a USD100 discount. So I think it was USD199. I might be mistaken. Otherwise, in my opinion, the best deals are probably at Marine general looking at their catalog prices.
