Was just wondering you guys thoughts on sonars.
I am currently running an X-65 and am wanting to upgrade.
Have pretty much decided on a color screen but cant decide on a model.I have heard pretty good things about the 332c.
Would anyone recomend the 7″ screen over the 5″???
    GPS combo or seperate units????
Just curious what everyone would recomend.
And any pros and cons you can think of.
    Thanks,Brad G.

    Brad,
Color has come a long way, and the prices are more reasonable than just a couple of years ago. As far a combo or separate units, if you have a lot of room go with the two units, if you are tight for space then the combo units would prob be the best choice. Am sure Wade will have great info to narrow your search, good luck.

I’m having a hard time parting with my LMS 320 I purchased a couple years ago. Its basically the 332c without color. I think the 332c would be a good upgrade from the 65. I’ll vouch for the color units. The 332c is great combo unit and a great unit for the cash. Thats why its popular. Its comparable to the top end units except for memory, screen size, and card reading capabilities. Wade will pipe in shortly with some good advice. You’re on the right track though.

If money and space isn’t a issue, go with separate units. Or at least get the 7 inch. I will be running a Lowrance 3600c and a color Vexilar Edge 3 this year.

Brad, These guys have given you some good ideas. Separate units are nice if you have the cash and the room on your console (you can generally find the room if you use RAM mounts). The most popular setup is the Lowrance X102C and the Lowrance Globalmap 3500C (or 3600C if you want internal antenna). A setup like this will run about $950. Note that an internal antenna should be fine on the console with an open boat.

If you have less room or just prefer the compact nature of a combo unit but still want more screen size, then I would look at the Lowrance LCX-25C which has a 7-inch screen. Although more compact, this setup will cost more than the two separate units (about $175 more).

Finally, the most economical way you could go is the 5-inch combo – the Lowrance LMS-334C with internal GPS antenna, or the Lowrance LMS-332C with external GPS antenna. These two units are the same except the GPS antenna. They both cost a little over $600. All three of the above setups will run Navionics Hotmaps Premium Maps and/or Lowrance Lakemaster Maps . Any of the above setups would work very nicely. It just depends on how much you want to spend and how you prefer to setup your console. Feel free to asks us more questions.

I agree with what Wade said, I had LaCannes rig my new boat the 102c and 3500c and then purchased the Navionics chip from Wade.

    Thanks Mitch!
I cant make up my mind,to many options.
    And dollar amounts.
I’m really afraid when I get the color on the rear,I’m gonna have to have one on the front!
Just dont know if the pocket book will handle it.
    Later, Brad

I used to run the x-65 and went to the 102c, which I ordered from Wade last fall. Moved the x-65 to the bow. Works great on the bow, and I don’t really miss the color that much up front. At least not yet.
