One week from today is the first of March! Let’s get a checklist of things to do to get ready for the open water season (keep quiet river rats – we know you’ve been fishing since January ).

    I’ll start…

Fishing license – no need to wait until the last minute
Boat and trailer license – see above
Put new line on fishing reels
    Organize your tackle boxes, again

What do you guys have on your list?

For Mn they are. I just bought and printed mine on-line tonight. Just make sure you select license year 2006 when you buy, otherwise you get an 05 license that expires in 7 days!

Clean and lube reels. Clean rods. New plugs in boat motor, change lower unit fluid. Replace lost tackle from last season, and of course buy new stuff.

Clean battery posts. Top off batteries. Check trailer lights. Check bearings, if not done last fall.

One hot tip for this spring…

Go through the steps of changing a tire on your trailer.

Last year, when repacking the wheel bearings I found that my tire iron used on my truck doesn’t fit on my trialer.

The spare tire and jack really didn’t do me any good…with out a lug nut wrench!

I like to rig a few rods, and then make some casts in my garage and pretend

Yeah, the trouble with those darn Honey Do Lists is that they’re forever expanding.

Air out the boat to get rid of the mothball smell.

What am I forgetting? What did you do? Probably something! I just can’t remember what!

    Does Wade sell lug wrenches?

Wade is like the Bill Brasky of retail

If you recall last year my radio would change to 16 when we were talking on our secret channel. Found out it was cutting in and out…like it was losing power. Checked for power and no problem. Must be the radio.

Bought a new radio from Wade, and the new radio didn’t work right either…

Although I checked the POWER…I didn’t check the GROUND.

Sold the new radio to Catten Addict…which reminds me, we have to be careful what we say now….
