Cabelas is selling both of them for about the same price, which one would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to IDA BB!!!

Well first and foremost the X-15 does not read some of the chips that are on the market right now!!! I believe the 332c does. Color is a HUGE factor in my opinion… However the x-15 has a bigger screen easier to read from a distance!
I think I would go to a color unit if the price is the same and also it has the ability to read the chips or maps!!!
Just my 2 cents.. Let us know which way you go and why you choose that way.
Once again welcome and good first post

I’d go with the 332C. Great unit from the reviews we’re read here. And by the way, Jolly Ann is beating Cabelas price by $30 and Jolly Ann ships free. Check them out at http://www.jollyansales.com

    Thanks for the advice.

An employee Gander Mountain told me that you could update the X-15 via lowrance’s web page to handle all of the current navionics cards – does anybody know if that is true or how that works?

The upgrade feature that Lowrance offers is awesome..this enables you to keep a gps\locator for a long time without having to upgrade to a new unit. Simply follow the instructions at http://www.lowrance.com and you have a new upgraded unit in no time…I don’t know if its true that the unit with now accept all the mapping chips…talk to Wade about this..He runs a great operation down in Iowa..his prices can’t be beat either..

Give him a call or pm him!

I would pick the 332c hands down, and I would have to agree ,there isn’t anyone who knows more about them than Wade at Jolly Ann Marine

Hello and welcome to the site.

That is not correct. The X-15 can not run the Navionics Premium maps, no matter what upgrades it has.

Also, I agree with these guys on the 332C. It’s a great unit. I have many happy customers who love the 332C and I have it on my boat as well. If you’d like to know more about cost options please contact me. Thanks!

I have one more question – how does the 332 compare to the 334? From what i can see the only difference is that the 334 has an internal gps antenna, is that correct?

Thanks again for all of your guys help. A buddy of mine got me hooked on this web page last fall and ever since then I have been getting more and more additiced to it. From watching the site as often as I do I have come to really respect a lot of the guys opinions and figued I would get some good advice.

Also – is there any effect on performance with internal vs. external GPS antenna?

The internal antenna is the only difference. You should not see any difference in performance as long as you have the unit in a place where it can get decent GPS satellite reception, such as a console.

Great question BB I should have asked it before I purchased my 15. But hind site is 20/20. Only thing I can say is my 15 is great and I have no complaints with it other than I have one of the new chips that will not work with it. So I will be buying another new unit but I always wanted 3 units on my boat . One saving grace is I only purchased the unit itself my other hook ups worked for the 15 and saved me tons .
