Anyone know how I can get my hands on some pawls for Garcia C4 reels? If anyone out there owns one, you know what a problem they can be. I’m looking to stock up on a supply of pawls so I can fix them as needed throughout the year.

Like I said, if you own a Garcia C4 you know what it is. The pawl is a small metal piece that fits inside the line guide of the reel. It runs in the worm gear of the reel and constantly wears out after repeated casts.

Wow, I didn’t know they were so weak…….I have a 5500 C4 that has done quite well for me over the past 5 years for ski fishing……..Never heard of that happening before?

I’ve never had a problem either, but I keep that worm gear clean. Since it’s exposed to the outside world it’s a great place to pick up gunk. I use WD-40 and an old tooth brush.

I’ve been through a number of worm gears and pawls on my C3’s and C4. Abu Garcia updated their website with drawings on all of the Ambassadeur reels which makes it easy to ID any parts that you might need. You can also order from Abu Garcia by phone.

Jason, John at Johns Tackle and Reel Repair that Steve Plantz mentioned can get you the parts from Garcia. Hes also very good at reel repair.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I’ll try and order a bag of em directly from Garcia. I wasn’t sure if it was possible to order just small parts directly from the manufacturer?

I’d go directly to Abu. I’ve gotten small parts for a Mitchell (I believe they’re all owned by Berkley) and they are very nice to deal with, usually they won’t even charge for small parts. Plus, they’re quick, too.

By far, these guys are the best:

Southwestern Tackle out of Dallas, TX… call them or visit on-line. If they don’t have it, they will tell you a source to find it!
