What size house should i look at for me. I fish 50/50 two people vs. alone. So it’s important for me to have a house big enough for two well sized men but not so large for just me.

Here is a shot of a couple of Otter Magnum Lodges. This picture is from the Otter roundup. The one in the rear of the photo is the one Smitty let me use. Nice set up. You can see the two boat seats through the door. Very comfortable. It is set up right next to my truck….gives you an idea of the headroom. I could stand up no prob. Run 4 holes in a row for 2 guys fishing. Set up and take down was super quick.
The front photo shows the Otter Smitty and Hoggie were sharing…..Notice the emphasis on accessories…lol
I think you should take Smitty up on his offer for a test drive.

February 7, 2003 at 3:20 am #251774We have recently picked up three Maggnum 2 lodges, a Resort, a couple of Cabins, and a Den. If you have te room, and can et the lodge in and out of a truck, it is awesome! The cabin has a lot of room for a smaller shack. If you do plan to fish two, the Lodge is the way to go. If you are alone, the Cabin or Den is the answer. These are the finest made houses anywhere!
TuckFebruary 7, 2003 at 12:01 pm #251789These ever come up for sale used? I’ve been looking at a flip-style, but the price tag is a killer.
February 7, 2003 at 12:15 pm #251791I have a 5 year old fish trap II Gianni. Its in the odds and ends section of the classifieds…pictures too.
February 7, 2003 at 1:24 pm #251796Here is how I decided between the Lodge and the Cabin. I laid both sleds out one night. I grabbed two buckets(one bait, one rods), Strikemaster LM8, vexilar, 20lb LP, Mr Cooker, Vista Cam and a car battery(I use a 12v light). The Lodge had room to spare, so I could carry my buddies bucket etc…. The Cabin was maxed out with the gear I always carry, minimum. Don’t get me wrong, the Cabin is an awesome shack, but not big enough for my junk.
I just sold my Lodge after having it on EFN’s classifieds for one day. I’m done ice fishing for the next 4 weeks, so I figure by then I’ll be able to sit on a bucket like the old days. Praying for warmer weather!!!
February 7, 2003 at 1:42 pm #251799I do most of my fishng alone and am able to put my gear in to the Den. If desperate two people could fish in there at least long enough to warm up. I like it because it is so light, can pull it by hand for a long ways. When back at the truck I only bend over twice. Once to remove the auger and place it into the truck and then to put the tent/sled and everything in it in. One man operation. If will be fishing two a lot of the time though, will need a larger one.
February 7, 2003 at 1:55 pm #251800thanks W/B for the insite…….and thanks R/S for the offer to test drive yours….I’m looking at the two to compare the size and weight difference…It has to fit into the back of my Jimmy as did the fishtrap….mother wouldn’t be to happy if I had to get a new GMC 4 door pick up before she gets hers !! lol
February 7, 2003 at 2:11 pm #251802Hi EC.I have the Otter cabin and it works great for me. I’ve used it for
a couple of years now.It is great early ice as I only carry a hand
auger.I can load and unload it very easy by myself.I don’t seem to have a problem
with my gear fitting in the sled. I carry minnows,5lb LP with mister heater
if its cold.Bucket with a seat on top with camera, tackle, water, pop, fishfinder,
and snacks inside.A bucket for rods or tip-ups and I’m good to go. Once the ice gets real thick
so that I can drive out like on Winnie at this time of the year, space is not a
problem as my GMC holds a lot of extras. You can use it anytime your coming this way and I’m not
in it or lets go to Upper Red or Winni. SteveFebruary 7, 2003 at 3:35 pm #251808Well. I just ordered an Otter II Medium Cabin with some accessories….can’t wait to get out and get some pix of this baby….I ordered it in Viking Purple !!
February 7, 2003 at 3:46 pm #251809Wow thats the color my wife wanted. It’s too bad that they didn’t have any left
of purple when I bought mine two years ago. Maybe I’ll sell mine and get a purple one
for her.SteveFebruary 8, 2003 at 1:57 am #251836Jon! Accessories ? Hoggie left half of his arsonal at home !
Have you ever seen my boat when we go fishing ? The poor man spends more time picking out the lure he wants than he spends fishing !!! To Much Tackle ? NNNNOOOOTTTT !!!!

February 12, 2003 at 6:05 am #252128Whoa, Steve – a Purple ice house in Wisconny? Better be careful, especially on that early season ice during the football season next year. You may want to stick with “safer” colors for your area – namely Green or even Badger Red
