In my search for a boat I have come across boats that have the saltwater version outboards on them. What is the benefit of going with the saltwater vs. the freshwater outboards?
Usually the Salt Water version of motors have components in them that won’t rust or corrode with repeated exposure to salt water. Atleast that was my understanding.
I believe a few years back, when regular fresh water boats (via the Lund) went to the 25″ transom, they had to go salt water motors, because the regular fresh water motors didn’t have 25″ models.
This is a good question. I see guys on the tournament trail running saltwater versions from time to time and wondered myself. I assumed what Scott said.
