just got the lms-332c and i can’t get the gps part of it to work. i turn it on and the sonar works, the lake master chip engages, but i can’t get the puck to get a signal. does this have a seperate power supply that i didn’t hook up? i think there were three in the power supply cable. one thicker red/black/white that is hooked up and is the main power, then a blue/orange/white/? for the network, and then another smaller black/red/no shield for the NMEA???? what is that? any help would be great.

If you have the direction it should tell you. There is not a seperate power source needed for puck. I would triple check all your connections or resetting your system (says how in the manuel) But I think some people have had problems with the puck before. ALso if your in the house, you might have to go outside. It doesn’t connect in my house! Good luck and let us know what happens.

A Checklist for new units with LGC-2000:

    1. BOTH power cables need to be connected, 2 black, 2 red.
    2. The shield wire (bare) also needs to be connected to ground.
    3. The NMEA wires (multicolored set) need to be taped off properly if not being used.
    4. Lowrance suggest a direct connection to the battery. Check the manual for instructions.
    5. There is a small electrical draw from the GPS antenna even when the unit is off so you will need to rig it accoringly (some type of on/off switch to keep from draining the battery).

If all else fails, give the Lowrance techs a call for assistance at 800-324-1356.

wade, thanks a lot for the info…i appreciate it. i figured that both would have to be connected when it wasn’t working but everything else was. what a unit though. i had it out today on pool 2 just dinking around and it was awesome to see it all in color and so crisply 480×480 is sweet.

I had the same issue and it turned out the puck was bad…I pulled my hair out for 2 nights, got a different puck and everything was cool. None-the-less I should have tried the obvious first.

I wonder how the 334’s are performing with built in antenna.
I beleive they are the same price as the 332’s?

The 332C is a sweet little unit, no doubt! I have one for myself.

We will be discounting the 334C the same as the 332C when it is released by Lowrance. Folks can email me at [email protected] for a price quote. I have started taking pre-orders on the 334C because I know it’s going to be tough to get once it is released. I see Lowrance has not put the new products on their website yet so I would guess it’ll be March before they release the 334C to the public; maybe late February.

I don’t expect the 334C to be any less effective than the 332C. The internal antenna is used in their handhelds without any problem. Garmin has been using internal antennae on their units without any problem so I don’t see it being a problem for Lowrance. The thing to be mindful of with an internal antenna is that you are stuck with it wherever you mount your unit. If you are at all worried about obstructions on your boat, go with the external antenna. By obstructions, I mean anything that might interfere with the satellite signal reaching your antenna. If you plan to put the unit on top of your console you should be fine with an internal antenna, as long as you don’t have an overhead cabin. If you run a tiller rig and the unit will sit down inside your boat you may have trouble with the sides of the boat obstructing your signal. And, of course, if you plan to flush mount the unit you MUST go with the external antenna.

Remember, the pricing will be the same for the internal and external antenna units, so just go with whatever meets your needs best.

I called Cabelas and they said Mid Feb. release. They have a good deal going…..Buy a 332 or 334 and get the 2006 chip for $99. I saw it on they’re flyer last week.

$99 for the chip is after the $50 rebate from Navionics, if you have an old chip to trade in.

I bought a LMS 332C last year and it is indeed a sweet unit. I have only one problem with it which is I am unable to shut it off unless I disconect the power cord. A bit of a nuisance but I can live with it.The on switch works fine.

Wade…so mounting one of these with the internal antennae on a counsel with full windshield should be ok?? thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these units, and like the idea about the built in antennae.

Z – Full windshield should not be a problem at all.
