I did a comparison between the Lowrance X87 and the Eagle Fish Mark 320. Knowing that both are made by Lowrance, I was curious as to why they are priced about $90 apart. I could only find two things that were different. The X87 has a feature they call FasTrack and also has Split-Screen Zoom. The FasTrack is a selectable on/off feature, that displays flasher-style sonar returns in a narrow column on the screen. Not sure when I would use that fishing the river. Does anybody know why or when this Split-Screen Zoom would be used? When would you use this instead of the Bottom Zoom feature which both have? Trying to decide if these two features are worth the extra money.

If you are comparing the units on the web sites I think the Eagle site has some typo’s from what Im told.

I have A new Fishmark 320 It dose have split screen Zoom, as well as the fastrack. The difference in the fastrack in the X87 is It is a flasher dial, as the Fishmark is a columm as you noted. The only difference in the two units is the flasher dial, and for some the plug for the transducer is different than all the X series Lowrance Unit

the past few year. also last years Eagle units. The eagle

fishmark 320 as well as this years fisheasy ETC: have a new style plug. It is a smaller blk. plug in style.

You can get a adapter to use your X series transducers.

The model # TA-xzu Ptn 99-78, But you will loose the temp.

on your old transducer if you have it.

I notice you live in Washington Ia. Fin & Feather In IA. City has the fishmark 320

in stock at $199.00 same as Cabelas/Reeds

They have one on display, you can look at the demo mode.

also you can download a demo from the eagle web site

    http://www.EAGLESONAR.COM

Reeds has the X-87 for what I think is $ 239.00 with out the transducer. If you have one that fits.

I have a few replys posts on this in the WC web site

    Hope this helps

I did compare them on the web. Thanks for the headsup on this. I was thinkig about the difference in the split screen zoom mode and the bottom zoom mode. I think maybe it would be the ability to select your depth in manuel mode on the bottom zoom mode. Anybody know for sure?

I have a different brand locator that also has the split screen zoom. I was told that if you are fishing a drop off that regular zoom or bottom track may miss the fish holding off the drop . With a spilt zoom, the other zoom is a flat zoom and thus would pick up the fish easier. Hope this makes sense, Don.

OK, Thanks Don, If I understand what you are saying then the flat zoom works somehow to stay on the downhill slopes and the regular or bottom mode will basically jump to the lowest surface, thus jumping over fish that are suspended on the slope. I wonder how that all works?

Yep, the flat zoom reads flat regardless of bottom fluctuations. Thus it is easier to see the targets. You are right, when coming accross the drop part of the cone will be deep and part shallow (in regular zoom mode)
