Hi Anybody got any good tips on boat insurance?,and what are you paying per year, per boat value.I was paying $260 per year on about $15,000 boat, I think this could be interesting and maybe save a few bucks.

I just renewed mine with State Farm for $100. This covers up to $12,000 loss of my ’97 1660 Pro-V tiller, ’99 Suzuki 4-stroke 60hp motor, Spartan Trailer, 24 volt Minkota trolling motor, Impulse 440 GPS depth finder and $5,000 medical. Everything else would be covered under my Home Owners policy. Last year I paid $240 with a different company.

I am also interested in knowing what a few people pay, I plan on updating my insurance this spring when my premium is due, I would like some insurance for the valuables in the boat (rods, tackle etc.) as well as the boat and attachements. I believe I am in the $250 range. I will have to find out from mamma!

I have had my share of insurance claims and unfortunate issues over the years regarding my boat and gear. 2002 was a tough year mostly with all the dealings I have had over the years and I finally had enough of my insurance company that I was with and decided to do some shopping around. I recently found Greater Insurance Service to be my new home for all my boat insurance needs. I elected for the high level of coverage which I pay $800.00 per year but covers just about everything I could ever want. This insurance company is affiated with the NPAA program. These policies are made for any tourney anglers, guides, or the weekend anglers as well.

This is a little steeper from what I was paying before, but the coverage I am getting is long overdue. If and when I ever need to make a claim, I want it to be hassle free and not have a claim adjuster breathing down my neck to knock every little penny out of me.Hopefully I have found the right choice now.

I also have mine through Greater Ins and the NPAA. Unfortunatly I had to make a claim last year but it was almost an enjoyable experience. No one giving me the 20 ?’s, etc. Most policies don’t cover guiding, or even tournaments. Their policies cover everything.
