The flippin switch I use em live bait riggin walleyes. It makes for easy one handed adjustment to bottom changes.
I can’t tell you anything about quantums though. I do have a couple of Diawa’s but I do not remember the models right off hand they are like 15 years old though so I would think they are not even made any more. That’s what happens when you get old…….

I have about 10 Shimano Castiac’s that sound like what you are looking at. I love them and use them for everything.

Finest jiggin reel there is. Much handier than an open face also a better drag system.

I use a Cabelas Prodigy with a flipping switch for bottom bouncing. It’s great for one handed operation.

If you like the Garcias, they do have a model with a flipping switch. Check out the 4007LP or 3005LP, both low profile.

When engaged it lets you push the button, line goes out, let off the button line stops. Try it you will love it.

Mine works a little differently. It’s a button next to the thumb bar that when pressed, disengages the thumb bar. It works great for droping a bottom bouncer. I rarely cast with it.

So basicly it’s an alternate way to engage your reel spool after letting out a bunch of line without switching hands to engage the spool by turning the crank handle.

That would be handy bottom bouncing or flippen.
I’d probably snap my line everytime trying to cast with it.

    Thanks for explaining it.
