Stuart, this is a great unit. Great clarity and the color is ubeleivable. Cal(Ranger29) showed me the night Light on it for night time use and makes a huge difference. There is great detail in the mapping chips. I don’t mind the external anttenna. I pretty much just use it on the boat, so it’s stationary and the antenna is right under my windshield. The only thing that I do not like about it is, you can’t zoom in as far on the mapping as I could with my LMS 240 To me it was VERY easy to use, but I grew up usinfg Eagle/Lowrance units. I have never whipped out the directions I give it 2 thumbs up!

I used this unit last year and loved it. If your not familiar with the Lowrance units, buy Doc Sampsons instructional DVD. It explains everything very well and sure beats trying to read the instruction manaul. I would also give this unit two thumbs up.

I too am looking at this unit… but is the 3600c the same thing just with an internal antenna. Does the internal ant. work as good as the ext.? Cabelas has both of these units listed for 499 right now. Do they both have 2 slots that will accept navionics and lake master?

sorry no experience with any gps besides hand held garmin

The 3500C is excellent and I don’t expect anything less from the 3600C. The pros are that it’s easy to use, has a great picture (as good as you can get in a 5-inch screen right now), and it’ll take both Lakemaster and Navionics Premium maps.

The internal antenna should not be used if you plan to flush mount the unit or if you have an enclosed cabin or anything that would significantly interfere with GPS satellite reception.

If any of you want price quotes on either the 3500C or the 3600C please email me at [email protected] .

MrJigger. I got my unit from Wade and he had the best price around. Make sure you give Wade a call, he has excellent customer service and stands behind what he sells I’d give Jolly Ann 3 thumbs up

Have you seen how many lakes they added to the new chip??? If you plan on fishing them all, you’d better get started right now.

I just ordered the same unit with the new premium chip from Wade, and I’m dying waiting for that baby to get here!!! Sounds like a good unit, hope you like yours as much as I think I’m gonna like mine.

What do you guys think about having the combo sonar/gps units versus having one of each? I have a X25c that my bride gave me for Christmas (bless her soul) but was thinking of exchanging for a 3500c along with a seperate color sonar. I currently have grayscale versions (x97 and globalmap1600) and want to upgrade to color and chip accepting gps. If I go to a color sonar, what would be recommended? Thanks!!!

I like having two separate units. The reason is that if you are on big water and your two in one unit goes out the day is over. No depth locator and no gps. If you run two separate units and one goes out you still have the other to keep fishing
I run the 3500c and really like it. I also run the old 7520 pinpoint graphs and will till they die. So I am no help on recommending a new color unit but I am sure that Wade from Jolly Ann Marine will step in here and tell you a good unit.

    Welcome to IDA.

If you do go to two separate units you might look into the X102C and the 3500C by Lowrance. That’s been a popular setup this past year. Good luck!
