I have some x-mas gift cards to use up. Can anyone recommend a good rod reel for casting senko’s and tubes under docks etc? Also what line have you had success with?

    Thanks

I prefer lite line when fishing senko’s 8-10lb If I am fishing heavy cover I will go heavier. But not very often.

I think Alvin Mack’s suggested a good rod. I would pair that with a Quantum PTi 20 reel, maybe a PTi 30 but that starts to become a big reel.

I use heavy line fishing around heavy cover, so I use 20# Power-Pro or 20# Fireline and crank the drag down completely.

I use the 6’6″ avid with a capricorn 2000, I am taller at 6’3″ and would go shorter if the docks are closer to the water. I like light line in 8 or 10 fluro, lots more bites in clear water, but be prepared to lose some fish, you can usually lead them out from the thick cover before setting the hook when throwing the senko, I think the fall rate is the key with this setup.

I like the shorter rods as well with a fast tip and good backbone. I use a 6′ Fenwick HMX (HMXS60M) with 10lb Fireline.
