I’m in the same position and have done some research. It appears the biggest detirminent is the depth of the water you will be fishing. I’m going with the dual, 9-19. Suggest you go to http://www.vexilar.com and read their article on beam and coverage area. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Rick

I bought the dual beam last year, I love it. It is really nice to have the wide beam when searching for fish, then go to the smaller beam when you start fishing.

    I agree!
I too have the dual beam and would recommend that you do the same.
You will be covered for any situation.
It is interesting that most people really do not understand their field of view based on cone angle and depth. Visit the Vexilar web site to convince yourself.

Where are you at in Iowa? Ice up there yet? I am sure you will like the dual beam, originally I bought just the standard beam, but I took it back and bought the dual, its the best. I am wondering if I am going to have to buy a lx5 by marcum this year with all that power…?
