I’m very interested in purchasing a Lowrance LMS-332C until I came across an Eagle Fish Elite 500C. These products look similar in operation and functionalities.

Do we have any IDA members that own these products and can provide their feedback? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome Charlie. Great to have you with us. Please feel free to share and post all you want.

I don’t have either unit but can tell you that Lowrance makes both units and that both brands are very good. My Globelmap GPSs are Lowrance and two of the three fish locators on my Lund are Eagle. Wade from Jolly Marine will probably spot this thread and chip in here with some answers and you if you buy from him you will pay no tax and no shipping charges. He has GREAT customer service too.
    Thanks, Bill

Yes both units are made by the same company, however the eagle has a 320X420 Pixels as the lowrance has the 480X480 pixels which leads to a better screen resolution, Hope this helps.

I run Eagle E’s on my boat. The resolution is slightly higher on the Lowrance stuff and I think the processor is slightly faster. I know when reading my Nav chip, like when I’m zooming out or in, it takes a fraction of second longer to refresh the screen than my buddies 332. All in all, I’m very happy with the Eagle product. I run the Fishmark 500c along with the Intelimap 500c.

I run the 332C myself and I sold Kooty his Eagle units (and have been in his boat to view them in action). I think Kooty has it dead on. The resolution is higher in the Lowrance, and the processor may be a touch faster. On the GPS side of things, the higher pixel count is no big deal. On the sonar side, the higher pixels are nice. The FishElite 500C just recently dropped to $449.99, making it worth a good look. I don’t think you could go wrong either way. Just depends on how you want to spend your money.

I will tell you this – I sure love me 332C!

Dan, Lowrance is not dropping the price on the 332C, or at least they haven’t yet and have made no mention of it. I doubt they will drop the price anytime soon since it’s the nuber one seller. They did drop the prices on some of the upper end units (LCX-25C, LCX-26C, LCX-110C, and LCX-111C), handheld units, and the Eagle units.

I don’t expect to see any X105C units again. If anything, one might wait for the X107C units to close out or be reduced (maybe next fall???) or look for any remanufactured X107C units to show up, possibly this winter or next Spring. It’s hard to predict this stuff.

Welcome aboard MyThai – I bought a 332C from Wade this spring and LOVE it – I will be buying another to put up on the bow and network it with the counsle. In my opinion it is worth the extra $.
