battery/charger question

i have two m-29 batteries (less than 2 months old) wired in series for my 24 volt vector 80lb troller. i am using a minnkota 210 charger to charge the system. the last 2 times out i have notice premature voltage drop. i tested the batteries 22 volts, over 12 on one side and under 10 on the other. i noticed the charger will complete its charging cycle and the lights say the bats are full. so i fire the rig up and in no time (less than an hour) the meter on the troller says its all but over. check the batts – under 10 volts on one over 12 volts on the other. i checked the charger output on both sides – perfect. water levels are good and connections are solid. could this just be a lemon battery that doesn’t want to take a charge? – thanks for any help.

    sounds like a lemon.

i would hook the battery in question up to a different charger on its own and bring it up to a full charge and see what happens. I had difficulties with a charger that did similar things.

It sounds like you have a dead cell in the battery.

thanks for the reply, i tried a different charger – brought it back to full. turned on my troller and could actually watch the voltmeter go from 12 plus volts down to under 10 volts. this would validate the lemon battery theory then?.

yes.. the battery is bad. If the voltage drops that fast under minimal current draw or load.. it is bad.
