Has anybody tried these? I’ve heard through the grapevine that there slightly stiffer than a similar avid/legend elite. What I’m getting at is should I go down and use the 6’9″ MLXF model, or stick with a meduim power rod with the 6’8″MXF. I already have a legend elite 6’3″ MXF that I love. Just trying to get an idea before I get it built this fall if anyone has ever tried one of these. The blue blanks sure look pretty!

I have several and they are great. There is no doubt they are a higher quality rod when compared to the Avid Series. They are very close in comparison to a Legend Elite in my opinion.

I have a 6’3 MXF Avid and I wanted a little more backbone, so I got the tournament version of the same rod and it has more backbone and a lot better feel to it. Next year all my rods will be that pretty blue color

I guess I didn’t answer your question. The 6’8″ MXF fishes very similar to Avid. I have two of each, the Tournament and Avid. The Tournament series is a little stiffer but has a better feel. I think you will REALLY like the Tournament Series 6’8″ MXF, I know I do

Don’t forget about G-loomis Imx rods… Just a bit more money but they’re worth every penny, and than some. The LT’s are awesome too though, just thought I’d help keep your options open.

I thought about a GLX to try something different, but I think I’m gonna stick with the croix. Right now I’m going to go with the 6’8″ unless I try the 6’9″ one and like it better. I have a few more weeks to decide.

Dave, don’t overlook the Techna AV’s from Fenwick.these are also a very good rod.
I’ve had 3 Avid series rods made for me and the boys and they are a great rod.

If you two haven’t figured it out yet the same guy made all those rods you’re each talking about

I’m trying to talk each of you into trying those blue blanked ST. Croix SC4’s… hopefully we can get one of you to go for it so the other can check the rod out and make the decision easier – I know when the rods are finished we are all gonna want one. Ryan – that 6’8″ is the same one I was talking to you about… Chuckles

Ryan, after using a Legend elite I don’t think I could go down to anything much lower than a legend tournament. I’m still young and single so I better get a few more before those things change.

I have a 7’6″ Tourny Elite and really like it. I have been using it to throw Horney Toads in the slop . You can really put the hurt on em and jerk em out of the slop. Would love to have a few more but they are pretty pricey. You could pay 260$ for this rod retail but you can do much better from a private dealer.
