St Croix rod selection question?

I have been using St Croix rods for quite a while, I am thinking of getting a rod for pitching jigs and plastics for eyes.

I have a Avid Mediun Fast 6’6″ that I use for Lindy rigging, any way thinking of using this rod for pitching jigs and plastic and getting Legend Tounement for rigging.

Any one out there using the new Legend Tournement line of rods yet? How are they? Better than the Avid line?

    thanks KLH

Haven’t used the tourney line of rods but that 6’6″ Avid is a great pitching rod . Got 6 of um in my boat.

KLH I have a 6’2″ tournament- med. fast action. I bought it this spring before our trip to Rainy River. Its an awesome rod. I can’t compare it to the Avid because I’ve never used one. However I do find myself using 3 to 1 over my Loomis. Its super sensitive and it balances just right. I’d buy another one in a heartbeat if something happened to this one. Go for it– you won’t be sorry– you can never have too many rods anyway. Right???? Steve

I have 4 of the Avid 6’6” med fast tip rods and they are very good rods for all around fishing including pitching jigs. Did just that [pitching jigs] last Saturday with one of those rods. Great rods. Another reason you gotta love them St. Croixs.
    Thanks, Bill

Go with the legend tournament if you can afford it. Avid’s are super rods but the technology used in the legend tournament rods is just awesome.

OK, looking at trying the Legend Tournement line should I go with the 6’8 TWS68MXF “River Jig” or the TWS66MLF “Jig-n-Rig” or the TWS70MLF “Lindy Rig”, would like to use it for pitching plastics in the spring and fall and Lindy Rigging in the summer

I believe you might be seeing some new rods on Bfishn soon that may interest you.

Oops, I thought you were talking baitcasters lol, have to re-write this post. Well, I suggested medium power thinking baitcaster and I would probably stick with that for spinning as well. I do my jigging on a medium power rod and it does just fine, the sesitivity is all there even for light bites. And it also has the power for bigger jigs and rigs too, a very versatile power.

klh, you’ll have to post back how you like that rod. I’m debating between that one and the 6’9″ MLXF model for pitching/casting/vertical jigging.
